April 9th declared “Dr. Gholam Peyman Day of Innovation” by Phoenix Mayor

April 9th was declared “Dr. Gholam Peyman Day of Innovation” by Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix’s celebration reception, held in the Health Sciences Education Building. Dr. Peyman was named one of the 12 eminent researcher recipients of the National Medal for Technology and Innovation by President Barack Obama. This award is the highest honors bestowed by the federal government upon scientists, engineers, and inventors.

OFFICIAL PROCLAMATION FROM THE CITY OF PHOENIX:

DECLARING APRIL 9, 2013 AS DR. GHOLAM PEYMAN DAY OF INNOVATION

WHEREAS Phoenix recognizes the importance of research in technology and innovation at our universities; and

WHEREAS Phoenix encourages and supports the University of Arizona to be at the leading edge for patient care for families throughout our state; and

WHEREAS Phoenix encourages and supports the University of Arizona to provide a state-of-the-art programs of medical education and groundbreaking research through qualified, devoted professionals in the field; and

WHEREAS Dr. Gholam Peyman has been named by President Obama as one of the 12 eminent researcher recipients of the National Medial of Technology of Innovation; and

WHEREAS Dr. Peyman currently has more than 135 patents including a broad range novel medical devices; and

WHEREAS  Dr. Peyman is considered one of the best ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeons in the world; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mayor Greg Stanton, in recognition of tremendous contributions to medicine, science, technology and innovation by Dr. Peyman, hereby declare April 9, 2013 Dr. Gholam Peyman DAY, and, I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.
